Here We Go Again....

Poor New Orleans has gotten hit again, this time from Hurrican Rita. Here is a picture of a very sad dog on the only bit of dry land left. The storm surged, and the levees broke. New Orleans was still pumping out water when this new storm dumped more water on top of them to deal with. The storm is heading for Texas, and the hurricane season of destruction continues for another month. Sadly, there is a price for beauty!

What I Did Last Weekend

On Friday, September 9, 2005, John and I went to Estes Park with my parents to attend the Estes Park Longs Peak Scottish Irish Highland Festival. Here is the sweet Nessie wading in the water. Occasionally, canons are fired at her---Bastards!!!! Thankfully, she was safe! Long live Nessie!!!!

Me in the cabin my parents rented while John and I were in Estes Park. John and I stayed the night in this dreadful cabin. It had a nice view, but we slept on a sleeper sofa...yuck! My parents said it looked better in the pictures. John and I also went to see "The 40-Year-Old Virgin". Very funny movie, but I don't recommend seeing it with your parents.

Stessed out sheep trying to recuperate between border collie demonstrations.

A Scottish band, I think they were from Scotland. Not all the performers were from Scotland. Some were Americans, Canadians, Irish, and of course Scottish. I wonder if they really are bare under those kilts? I wonder?!? ;)

On Saturday, September 10, 2005, John and I attended baby James's 2nd birthday party. Has it really been 2 years? Geez they grow so fast! James had a Spiderman themed birthday. As you can see, there was Spiderman carnage everywhere. "Don't worry my spidey friends I can get out of this mess!"

That's Brisk baby!!!! John enjoying a cold one!!

James having fun in the sun at his birthday party!

On Sunday, September 11, 2005, I went to the first Adventure Club of the 2005-2006 season. John stayed home to watch the Broncos, but he joined us later at Beau Jo's for some pizza and good times with friends. We went to Mount Evans first and than on to Breckenridge. This is a picture of me with Annie and Kimmie on a rock at the summit of Mount Evans. We were at 12,000 feet. Mount Evans is over 14,000 feet, but they close down the road to the top after Labor Day. Oh, well! Can you see the thinner air?

In Breckenridge, some of us went to listen to music, but Kimmie, Ramon, Adrianna, Aaron, and I walked around and shopped. It was fun, but I really missed my Boo Boo. I was happy he met up with us at the restaurant. On the way through the Eisenhower, we saw a rain/snow mix coming down. Winter is just around the corner!!! Overall, it was a good day!

Four Years Ago Today....

Now I know, "Spanish Harlem" are not just pretty words to say.
I thought I knew, but now I know the rose trees never grow, in New York City.
Until you've seen this trash can dream come true,
You stand at the edge, while people run you through.
And I thank the Lord, there's people out there like you.
I thank the Lord there's people out there like you.

While Mona Lisas and Mad Hatters,
Sons of bankers, sons of lawyers,
Turn around and say, "Good Morning" to the night.
For unless they see the sky, but they can't and that is why.
They know not if it's dark outside or light.

This Broadway's got, its got a lot of songs to sing,
If I knew the tune I might join in.
I go my way alone, grow my own.
My own seeds shall be sown, in New York City.
Subways no way for a good man to go down,
Rich man can ride, and the hobo he can drown.

And I thank the Lord for the people I have found,
I thank the Lord for the people I have found.

While Mona Lisas and Mad Hatters,
Sons of bankers, sons of lawyers,
Turn around and say "Good Morning" to the night.
For unless they see the sky, but they can't and that is why,
They know not if it's dark outside or light.

Four years ago, today, tragedy occured. The man responsible still roams free, because our stupid ass president can't get his head out of his ass. Fighting a useless war in Iraq when the man responsible lives in Afghanistan. How sad?! Perhaps, he was never meant to be caught! :(

What Went Wrong?

I have been going to the chiropractor for a little over five months to help me with getting pregnant. I found out three months back that my chiropractor's wife, who handles all the paperwork at the office, was pregnant. I went in today for an adjustment and found out that they lost the baby. She was seven months pregnant! I don't know all the details, because Jason(chiropractor) had a substitute filling in for him. All I know is Vicki(chiropractor's wife) hadn't felt the baby move for a while. She went to the doctor, and they couldn't find a heartbeat. Apparently, the baby died in utero, and I don't know why. I hate things like this! I don't understand how a seemingly healthy fetus just stops living. It makes no sense to me!

I'm posting some lyrics to a song by the Eagles. It isn't the entire song just the part that fits with my post. The song is called the "Sad Cafe".

The clouds rolled in and hid that shore
Now that glory train, it don’t stop here no more
Now I look at the years gone by,
And wonder at the powers that be.
I don’t know why fortune smiles on some
And let’s the rest go free

Maybe the time has drawn the faces I recall
But things in this life change very slowly,
If they ever change at all
There’s no use in asking why,
It just turned out that way
So meet me at midnight baby
Inside the sad cafe.
Why don’t you meet me at midnight baby,
Inside the sad cafe.

The Timeline

This is the timeline, as it unfolded, for Hurricane Katrina.

Friday, Aug. 26: Gov. Kathleen Blanco declares a state of emergency in Louisiana and requests troop assistance.

Saturday, Aug. 27: Gov. Blanco asks for federal state of emergency. A federal emergency is declared giving federal officials the authority to get involved.

Sunday, Aug. 28: Mayor Ray Nagin orders mandatory evacuation of New Orleans. President Bush warned of Levee failure by National Hurricane Center. National Weather Service predicts area will be "uninhabitable" after Hurricane arrives. First reports of water toppling over the levee appear in local paper.

Monday, Aug. 29: Levee breaches and New Orleans begins to fill with water, Bush travels to Arizona and California to discuss Medicare. FEMA chief finally responds to federal emergency, dispatching employees but giving them two days to arrive on site.

Tuesday, Aug. 30: Mass looting reported, security shortage cited in New Orleans. Pentagon says that local authorities have adequate National Guard units to handle hurricane needs despite governor's earlier request. Bush returns to Crawford for final day of vacation. TV coverage is around-the-clock Hurricane news.

Wednesday, Aug. 31: Tens of thousands trapped in New Orleans including at Convention Center and Superdome in "medieval" conditions. President Bush finally returns to Washington to establish a task force to coordinate federal response. Local authorities run out of food and water supplies.

Thursday, Sept. 1: New Orleans descends into anarchy. New Orleans Mayor issues a "Desperate SOS" to federal government. Bush claims nobody predicted the breach of the levees despite multiple warnings and his earlier briefing.

Friday, Sept. 2: Karl Rove begins Bush administration campaign to blame state and local officials—despite their repeated requests for help. Bush stages a photo-op—diverting Coast Guard helicopters and crew to act as backdrop for cameras. Levee repair work orchestrated for president's visit and White House press corps.
Saturday, Sept. 3: Bush blames state and local officials. Senior administration official (possibly Rove) caught in a lie claiming Gov. Blanco had not declared a state of emergency or asked for help.

Monday, Sept. 5: New Orleans officials begin to collect their dead.

Worst President Ever!!!!!

I'm using a picture of cute prairie dogs to show the turmoil that is going on in our world today. I didn't want to use actual pictures, because I find them way too sad. Anyways, here is a list of the tragedies that are occuring as I write:

#1---Hurricane Katrina has bombarded New Orleans, Louisiana & many locations in Mississippi. These places suffered severe damage and loss of life. New Orleans is still flooded! People have been stranded everywhere and without food and water for FIVE DAYS!!!!!! Where the hell is our presdient to help these people....oh, he was busy playing golf. He finally went to those places yesterday, in a helicopter of course. It took him five days to get help to these people. Pregnant women, babies, elderly, and anybody else have been without food and water suffering. Most of these people are black---coincidence, sadly I think not. I thought racism was slowly becoming a part of the past but unfortunately it is alive and well. This is not acceptable for people to be treated this way! I can't believe this man has the title of president by his name!

#2---Cindy Sheenan has been camping out in Crawford, Texas where Bush has been on vacation. She is waiting for our president to grow some balls and speak to her about why her son had to die in Iraq. Cindy is now following Bush back to the White House to camp out there to get him to speak to her. Why are we there fighting this war? What have we accomplished by being there? How many more soldiers and innocent people have to die?

#3---Speaking of Iraq, we are still there fighting this bullshit of a war. Why are we still there? Why are you allowing this to turn into another Vietnam? Bush, why don't you have a conscience and a soul? What the hell is wrong with you!?

All I have to say is I can't believe this man! It is so sad that he is in charge, because he is sending us all to hell!

I'm going to post the lyrics to a song from the Byrds, a classic! It was a song that came out during Vietnam, and it still fits for our world today.

To Everything (Turn, Turn, Turn)
There is a season (Turn, Turn, Turn)
And a time to every purpose, under Heaven

A time to be born, a time to die
A time to plant, a time to reap
A time to kill, a time to heal
A time to laugh, a time to weep

To Everything (Turn, Turn, Turn)
There is a season (Turn, Turn, Turn)
And a time to every purpose, under Heaven

A time to build up,a time to break down
A time to dance, a time to mourn
A time to cast away stones, a time to gather stones together

To Everything (Turn, Turn, Turn)
There is a season (Turn, Turn, Turn)
And a time to every purpose, under Heaven

A time of love, a time of hate
A time of war, a time of peace
A time you may embrace, a time to refrain from embracing

To Everything (Turn, Turn, Turn)
There is a season (Turn, Turn, Turn)
And a time to every purpose, under Heaven

A time to gain, a time to lose
A time to rend, a time to sew
A time for love, a time for hate
A time for peace, I swear it's not too late
