Melody

The message was real,
On that full moon November day.
Your small body had given up,
The pain was planning to stay.
I looked at your glazed eyes in fear.
It was your time to fly~~
My weakness overcame me with each tear.
The wetness flooded my face with each word of goodbye.
I lost my sweet song on that first of November.
My furry friend went on,
I can't help but remember~~
That you are really gone.

This is a poem I wrote for my cat Melody who died November 1, 2001. I wrote the poem for a class on April 22, 2002. I still find it sad that she is really gone. I still have her sister Harmony, but I feel like a void is missing for her and me. We have Cimbi to fill that emptiness, but it's not the same. John and Cimbi would have loved Melody. She was a great cat! Very sweet girl! Goodbye my friend!

It's A Boy!

John and I went in for our 20 week ultrasound today, and we are happy to announce that we are having a BOY. We are very excited! Cedric Shea Blanco is going to be his name. We can't wait to meet you little Cedric, a.k.a. Baby Boo.

Baby Boo's Transportation

Finally, the travel system that John and I were waiting to be available for purchase is finally on its way to the Blanco residence. They had other styles available for awhile, but we really liked the Notting Hill. Baby Boo will be traveling in style! :)

October Snow 2006

Yesterday morning, John and I woke up to freshly, fallen snow. It was so pretty I had to take a picture. In one month, John and I will be on a plane to New York for some fun and turkey delicious. Mmmmmmm....turkey!

Me so far: My belly is gradually expanding, and I'm feeling lots of aches and pains...but all worth it. John and I will know, as long as baby cooperates, the gender of our child. We're so excited! As far as everything else is concerned, all is well. :)

Countdown Begins!

In exactly two weeks, John and I will find out if we are having a girl or a boy. Of course, the baby has to cooperate. We will be happy with whatever as long as the baby is healthy---that's all that matters. I would like a girl first, because there are only boys between the young Ross and Blancos. Nevertheless, a boy would be just as welcomed and loved. So on October 27th, I will make the announcement on my blog with an updated picture of Baby Boo. :)

Poor Fattie

My poor cat Harmony can no longer fit through the cat doors to the basement. Despite all the diets she has been on in her life she is still fat. I just don't know what to do to help her to lose weight. She only eats diet cat food. Occasionally, on rare occasions she'll have a little tuna or turkey, but that is very rare. So John and I have to buy dog doors now and install them into the door, so my kitty can get through. *Sigh*
Who's that waddlin' down the street
It's just me 'cause I love to eat
Fudge and Twinkies and deviled ham
Who's real flabby? Yes, I am!
Every picture of me's
Gotta be an aerial view
Now my doctor tells me
There's just one thing left to do

Grapefruit Diet (Diet!)
Throw out the pizza and beer
Grapefruit Diet (Diet!)
Oh, get those jelly donuts out of here
Grapefruit Diet (Diet!)
Might seem a little severe
Grapefruit Diet (Diet!)
I'm gettin' tired of my big fat rear
Blow, fatty!

Well, I used to live on chocolate sauce
Made sumo wrestlers look like Kate Moss
Walked down an alley and I got stuck
I got more rolls than a pastry truck
When I'm all done eating
I eat a little more
When I leave a room
First I gotta grease the door

Grapefruit Diet (Diet!)
Can't have another eclair
Grapefruit Diet (Diet!)
I gotta decrease my derriere

I'm on a Grapefruit Diet
I'm on a Grapefruit Diet
I'm on a Grapefruit Diet

No more pie now
No more creme brulee
Lay off the gravy
And souffle
No french fri-yi-yies now
No ice cream parfait
Mr. Cheese Nacho
Stay away

Oh I think I'd sell my soul
For a triple patty melt
But I need a boomerang
When I put on my belt

Grapefruit Diet (Diet!)
Lay off the 3 Musketeers
Grapefruit Diet (Diet!)
Until my big booty disappears
Grapefruit Diet (Diet!)
Eat 'em till they're comin' out of my ears
Grapefruit Diet (Diet!)
'Cause I haven't seen my feet in years

I'm on a Grapefruit Diet
I'm on a Grapefruit Diet
I'm on a Grapefruit Diet

I think I'm about ready for a Quarter Pounder with extra cheese
I need a side of onion rings
And oh yah, don't forget to Super-Size that

Baby Boo at 13 weeks

I had a scare yesterday evening that carried over into today. I was bleeding, and I didn't know why. John tried to reassure me that everything was okay, but I know that bleeding isn't a good sign when you are pregnant. Thankfully, I was able to get an appointment for today to find out the cause to my bleeding. I wasn't having any cramps, so that was good. The doctor did an ultrasound, and I was told I have a low lying placenta. It is partially covering my cervix which can cause bleeding. I just have to be a little more careful, but I should be fine. As my uterus grows my placenta will move up and away from my cervix. I'm fine now, and I was so happy to see my little baby bouncing around having a grand old time in my uterus.

Here is a picture of Baby Boo at 13 weeks. Baby Boo is looking forward waving at the camera.

Here is another picture of Baby Boo...it's a profile shot with its leg kicking up into the air. Please don't be alarmed by the alien looking baby....ultrasound can give a baby that kind of appearance because it also detects the skeleton.

Crocodile Tears

I woke up this morning to sad news that Steve Irwin from The Crocodile Hunter was killed by a stingray off the Australian Barrier Reef. He was 44 years old, and the father of two young children. This man is notorious for getting too close to very dangerous animals, but the stingray is generally a timid creature. He just got that one in a million shot....he was swimming over the stingray, and its barbed tail popped up and pierced Steve in the heart. A stingray's sting is painful but not deadly unless you are pierced in the heart or chest. Unfortunately for Steve, he encountered such a sting. This man cared more about animals than most people. He went out of his way and put himself at harm to perserve the lives of creatures...he gave them a voice so desperately needed to be heard. He was one of the best conservationist around, and he will be forever missed.

Sam's Last Breath

Here is a bird that I named Sam, because I didn't know what gender it was. John and I went out to do yard work this morning, and we already found one dead bird than we saw this bird barely breathing. I was concerned for the bird, so I put on my garden gloves to see if I could do anything to help the bird. I don't think there was anything I could do, so John and I put the bird in a box and tried to give it some bread. It just laid there fighting to survive, but the inevitable happened. Sam stretched out its wings flapping, pooped, and than Sam's eyes went dark. Sadly, I just witnessed Sam taking its last breath.

Blackbird singing in the dead of night

Take these broken wings and learn to fly
All your life
You were only waiting for this moment to arive
Blackbird singing in the dead of night
Take these sunken eyes and learn to see
All your life
You were only waiting for this moment to be free.

Blackbird fly, Blackbird fly
Into the light of a dark black night.

Blackbird fly, Blackbird fly
Into the light of a dark black night.

Blackbird singing in the dead of night
Take these broken wings and learn to fly
All your life
You were only waiting for this moment to arise
You were only waiting for this moment to arise
You were only waiting for this moment to arise

My Past Birthday...July 29th

I was lazy, and I forgot to blog my birthday that occured on Saturday, July 29, 2006. I turned 34! Here is a picture of the presents that John bought me: the elephant chair is for the baby's room (technically this shouldn't count as a present for me....hmmmm...John?), the gorilla sock monkey is mine her named is Gabriella, the bottoms up book, and a nice birthday card.

We went to a friend's house to play some games, Clue and Phase One. This friend is a master at Clue, except he lost both times once to John and the other time to me....hehehehehe. We didn't get to play Phase One all the way through, so I won by default because of my score. We went to dinner at Pearl Street Grill near DU campus. Afterwards, we saw the movie The Devil Wears Prada. It was a good movie!

The next day, we went to Landry's Seafood House with my family for dinner. I, of course, had steak and lobster....mmmmmm. All and all it was a great birthday, because I got the best present of all...Baby Boo. :)

Ellie the Elephant and Gabriella the Gorilla. So cute!

Baby Boo's 2nd Picture

Baby Boo is about the size of a lima bean. 8 weeks and 6 days old. Only 31 more weeks to go!

Baby Boo made its second debut today. The official due date is March 17, 2007. I was off by a day! Baby Boo could be a Saint Patrick's Day baby. That would be very cool. This image is a little better than the 6 weeks ultrasound. You can actually see a little body curled up in there. Soooooooo Cute!

Being Pregnant

I haven't blogged lately, because I feel like crap. This pictures is a true representation of me dealing with my first trimester. I'm nauseous and tired all day long. I'm not complaining, because I'm happy to be pregnant. I just can't wait til my second trimester, so I can start feeling better.

On Friday, Baby Boo will make another debut...I'm having my second ultrasound. I'll be 9 weeks on Friday. :)

Baby Boo's 1st Picture

Here is a picture of Baby Boo. As you can see or not see, our child looks like a blob. Our baby is between those two marks on the ultrasound picture. We should be getting better pictures as the weeks go. This is only at 6 weeks, so it is hard to make out an image. John and I make a cute blob child---don't you think?

Another shot of Baby Boo. Still a blob!

It's Official!!!!!!

It's finally official!!!! I'm PREGNANT!!!!!!! John and I wanted to wait until after my first prenatal appointment before I blogged it. I'm 6 weeks pregnant, and I'm due March 16, 2007.

We are very happy!!!! Those two years of trying finally paid off. I'm going to be a "MOM".....ooooooooooooooooooo, kind of scary but exciting at the same time. John and I will get to see Baby Boo at our next prenatal appointment, because they will be doing an ultrasound. Cool, I can't wait. :D

Unwritten

I am unwritten,
Can't read my mind
I'm undefined
I'm just beginning
The pen's in my hand
Ending unplanned

Staring at the blank page before you
Open up the dirty window
Let the sun illuminate the words
That you could not find
Reaching for something in the distance
So close you can almost taste it
Release your inhibitions

Feel the rain on your skin
No one else can feel it for you
Only you can let it in
No one else, no one else
Can speak the words on your lips
drench yourself in words unspoken
Live your life with arms wide open
Today is where your book begins
The rest is still unwritten

Oh, oh, oh

I break tradition
Sometimes my tries
Are outside the lines
We've been conditioned
To not make mistakes
But I can't live that way

oh, oh

Staring at the blank page before you
Open up the dirty window
Let the sun illuminate the words
That you could not find
Reaching for something in the distance
So close you can almost taste it
Release your inhibitions

Feel the rain on your skin
No one else can feel it for you
Only you can let it in
No one else, no one else
Can speak the words on your lips
drench yourself in words unspoken
Live your life with arms wide open
Today is where your book begins
The rest is still unwritten

A Dream is a Wish Your Heart Makes

A dream is a wish your heart makes
When you're fast asleep
In dreams you lose your heartaches
Whatever you wish for, you keep
Have faith in your dreams and someday
Your rainbow will come smiling thru
No matter how your heart is grieving
If you keep on believing
the dream that you wish will come true

Happy 4th of July, 2006

Happy 4th of July! I found this image of the two kitties from Google's pic for the fourth. The cats look like Harmony and Cimbi...hehehehe...cute!!! John and I have no plans for the day, probably just hangout and do a whole lotta of nothing. We did, however, play two hours of SSX on Tour this morning. Holy geez, I wanted to lick 'em!

You know what would make this celebration of the United States better...a whole new administration running the White House. "2008" seems so far away! Anyway, Happy Fourth! :)

Sweet Relief

Boo Boo has done it! The Legend of Zelda: Windwaker has been solved! Great game...definitely you get your money's worth...maybe too much. Now we will soon be on to the next game....although we need a little break.

Tomorrow, John has to work but after work we will go out to dinner with my parents and go see a firework display. For the Fourth of July, Boo Boo and I will just have fun together. :)

Meeenip

The cutest Nintendo enemies ever! They make this really cute sound that I tried to emulate in my title.

John and I are still on our Zelda quest to conquer the game. We had a major set back yesterday (http://zablanc.blogspot.com/2006/06/it-just-happened-again.html), but we were able to quickly resolve the problem. Now John and I are off to run some errands and later eat some Italian Nachos at Old Chicago in a smoke-free environment. Yay!!!! :)

Zelda: Wind Waker

John and I have been tackling Zelda for a few weeks now. John plays, and I point out things John sometimes misses. I'm his wingman! We are now down to the Tri-force hunt...sounds like a challenge. This is one of my favorite characters, because he is so adorable when he waddles around. Reminds me of Harmony with the waddle and the jingle of his bells. Cute!

In other news, John and I will be celebrating the New Smoking Ban for Colorado by going to Old Chicago. Finally, I can enjoy one of my favorite restaurants and breathe clean air. Everyone that knows me knows I hate cigarette smoke...only thing worse...Cigar smoke. Cough, cough....gagggg! Goodbye and good riddance to you all!!!

The World was Our Burrito

Pam, Chris, John, and I went on a roadtrip to the Grand Canyon and Las Vegas. Chris arrived from NY on Friday, June 9th, and Pam arrived from NY on Saturday, June 10th. From there we ate breakfast/lunch at an IHOP near our house. We went to dinner at Old Chicago and talked about our trip.

We left for the Grand Canyon on June 11th at 5:30am. We made it to our destination by 6pm. We stayed the night in a Holiday Inn Express and had dinner at some cafe. The best part was finding a Carvel across the street for some ice cream although this Carvel doesn't compare to a real Carvel....they only exist in New York.

We left around 7:30am towards Las Vegas. We arrived around 1pm, and we were able to check-in at the Monte Carlo. We ended up staying two nights instead of one. We realized we were just too tired to drive out of our way to Roswell. Oh well, John and I will just have to go another time to hang out with the aliens.

Funny thing is while we were in the car, we talked about favorite places to eat. We mentioned Carvel, which we found. We then mentioned Nathan's, and Las Vegas provided. We ate there for lunch our first day in town. The only downfall was the money gouging. Almost 8 bucks for one hotdog....John and I got the two hotdog special which was only a dollar more. We didn't feel as bad about being overcharged. We also talked about Ben and Jerry's....also in Vegas, but we were too late to get a Heathbar crunch for Pam. We went to a B&J in Colorado, but they didn't have Pam's favorite Heathbar crunch flavor.*Sigh*

The Gang eating some steak at the Traildust Steakhouse. We were back in Denver by this point, and we all survived. Woo Hoo...roadtrips are rough, but we made it and didn't hate each other at the end of it all. :)

John and I doing some DDR at Fat City in Littleton, Colorado. We rock!!!

John, Chris, and I after a game of bowling at Fat City.

Ahhhhh, how sweet!!!! Pam resting on her teddy bear as we travel through the hot f@#*ing desert.

Like all princesses, I arrived by horse and buggy. I don't need a car to travel.;)

We stayed at the Monte Carlo...we were on the 23rd floor, room 310.

John and I in front of a fountain. I think it was a fountain in front of the Paris hotel and casino. Look how cute we are!

John playing some DDR in the New York, New York hotel and casino. I messed up and hit the wrong button, so John ended up having to use both mats. Crazy!!!!

We saw the Blue Man Group show at the Venetican. Pam and Chris got to be in the show briefly as the late arrivals. Great show!!!!

Me in cute animals overload! We were looking at the Rainforest Cafe as we were walking in and out of casinos on our way to the Blue Man show.

Now that's a spicy meatball!!!! John and Chris trying to act tough in front of the New York, New York. Ooooooooooo....I'm shaking in my sandals!!!

Pam and I on our floor at the Monte Carlo waiting for the elevator.

Close-up of the Blanco sibs...John and Pam say cheese!!!!

Grand Canyon sunset on the south rim.

Ooooo lala....Manhattan posing for the camera on the bed at the Holiday Inn Express.

AUGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!

John and I and our friend, Chris and John's sister Pam are all going on a roadtrip with each other starting Sunday. Of course, what decided to rear its ugly little head....my unwelcomed visitor that comes each month. Sometimes I hate being a girl!!!! I just wanted a nice vacation without any hassles from my stupid body. Augghhhhhh...so frustrating!!! The last few trips that John and I have gone on I wasn't safe from that annoying bitch. Thankfully, it at least started today, so I have a couple of days to ward off the cramps. Still...so annoying!!!!

Heat Wave

It was 98 degrees today....I hate this hot weather!!! It's only June and we are already having record high temps....these are temperatures you see in August not June. Give me 75 degrees everyday, and I'll be a happy camper.

BLAHHHHHHHHH

Here is a picture of a dog that was overfed donuts and beer by its previous owners....very sad!!!! Bastards!

Anyway, I'm using this picture, because I feel like a flabby, flab flab!!!! I need to do some DDR later....I can't let the flab win!

These Are Days

Band Shot closing out the AC for 2005/2006 year!

These Are Days
These are the days
These are days you’ll remember
Never before and never since, I promise
Will the whole world be warm as this
And as you feel it,
You’ll know it’s true
That you are blessed and lucky
It’s true that you
Are touched by something
That will grow and bloom in you

These are days that you’ll remember
When May is rushing over you
With desire to be part of the miracles
You see in every hour
You’ll know it’s true
That you are blessed and lucky
It’s true that you are touched
By something that will grow and bloom in you

These are days
These are the days you might fill
With laughter until you break
These days you might feel
A shaft of light
Make its way across your face
And when you do
Then you’ll know how it was meant to be
See the signs and know their meaning
It's true
Then you’ll know how it was meant to be
Hear the signs and know they’re speaking
To you, to you

Here is the song we did a video for in November's AC. We also did a Real World spoof, but we haven't seen it put together yet. See, three people in Adventure Club, also in the video, turned against all of us for some deranged reason. Actually, what it comes down to is overly dramatic lover's triangle between them and instead of dealing with our reactions they've written off the group. Aaron was really close to these people, so he was having a hard time editing. I can only imagine! Just seeing the video with them in it was a little hard....it's as if these people have died....sad.

Anyway, despite all the drama and hard times.....Thanks for the memories....until next season with the remaining cool ACers it won't be long until we meet again. :)

A happy shot of everyone that came to the end of the year Adventure Club. From forward to back: Minka, John, Kevin, Greg, Me, Shawn, Aaron, Colleen, Mike, and Adriana.

Let the beatings begin! Some Russian Volleyball in City Park with from left to right: John, Kevin, Shawn, Aaron, and Minka. Good times!!!

John and I in front of the Louisville Historical Museum. Getting cozy with my Boo!
